Article #88 - Education/Progress

 The third meeting of the educational convention of Chester County was held in Kennett Square on Saturday the 27. quite a number of persons were in attendance. interesting discussion on various point[s] relative to the improvement of public schools and the advancement of education in general occupied the principle [sic] part of the meeting. a gentleman from Massachusetts familiar with the efficient school systems of that state gave many valuable suggestions in a detailed account of its operation. the next meeting will be held at Unionville on the last Saturday of December.

  Lost

            At the last meeting of the Pocopson Lyceum at Locust Grove by the editor a highly useful and important piece of punctuality belonging to the Lyceum and Public, a general feeling

of gratitude will be awarded for the return of the above article, if found, to Marlborough school house on the 28th also lost by other members at the same time and place several smaller pieces of the same material all of which will be thankfully received as proposed

Mr. Editor     The election with all its excitement is past all surmise is at an end and we have to dwell beneath the reign of a Democratic rule [of Franklin Pierce] at least for four more years
