Article #73 - Thoughts which spring from Natures Beauties

          Written for the Journal

Cast thy thoughts upon the heaving

Waves which swell lifes onward sea;

And e’er many winds have swept them,

Purer they’ll return to thee.

Speak out, loving truthful spirits

Wait; to cheer & guide you on;

Progress is the Law of nature,

Thoughts shall live, when words are gone.

Oh be truthful; oh be earnest;

Falter not in trials hour,

Neath the darkness o’er the billows

Is unspent unfailing power.

Friends: be vigilant & trustful!

Pleading ever for the good,

Knowing & in acts proclaiming

Men were made a Brotherhood

When the Author viewed creation,

He proclaimed in loving mood:

None are perfect; all are finite,

Yet the creatures all are good.

If we would but learn of Nature,

Truthful Lessons she would teach:

Harmony & Love & Wisdom,

Such as Mortals seldom preach

What’s the use of strife & conflict,

Sect with sect for man[m]ons gains;

Earth is full of plenty, see the

Sunny hills & grassy plains.

Nature teaches, that the purest

Worship, which the father claims;

Is pure hearts true to each other,

Sharing joys, & loves, & pains.

Weeping when the cries of anguish,

Swell: from wounded stricken hearts:

Doing justly, Loving mercy,

Meekly, acting out our parts.

Formal, wordy, prayers, & praises,

Fail to fill the soul with Love;

But its deep, harmonious, breathings,

Swell with notes which raise above.

Giving beauty, & perfection,

To the inner deeper life,

And from all the outer nature,

Washing thoughts of sin & strife.

Let us List then to her teachings,

Let them all be understood,

Showing us God’s boundless wisdom,

And our common Brotherhood.
