[The anonymous author pays 25¢ for his ticket, which he thinks far too much. He finds Greeley impressive, “more than an ordinary man,” though he does not find him a very effective speaker. Greeley’s topic is “Failure & Success in Business,” and he recommends courage, virtue and honesty. He thinks everyone should “learn to work with their hands, as well as with their heads.” That way, they will never be without some means of earning a living.]
